Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People

• Project added 1 December 2008

I created a brand new website for Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted people (a local charity my Mum works for). Due to the nature of the intended audience of this site, several considerations had to be made at the design stage to guarantee easy reading for people with a range of sight issues as well as screen readers. I also developed two alternative high-contrast colour themes for this content managed website.

McCarthy Recruitment upgrade and microsites

• Project added 26 July 2008

As part of a change in business focus McCarthy Recruitment came back to Access to ask for an upgrade of their current Drupal website so that we could develop microsites that plug in to their job database. Having designed and built the upgraded home page we’re currently in the process of building the first microsite (although it’s more sophisticated than just a microsite). The two websites should be going live August 2008 - I’ll provide more details after launch. Update: these sites finally got wrapped up in December 2008

Neville Johnson Website Update

• Project added 29 June 2008

Neville Johnson are a successful Manchester-based bespoke furniture company. Every week you will find their glossy ads produced by Access Advertising in the Sunday papers. They recently approached Access Digital to perform a design refresh on their busy .net website. Working with their in-house designers we managed to produce a new skin for the site that reflects their current print-work and didn’t require any costly changes to the CMS.

Access Advertising Staff Blog

• Project added 23 May 2008

To further the development of the Access Advertising web presence I suggested the creation of a staff blog for off-topic discussion and ranting. I was tasked with designing and developing the project along with training of the staff to use it. I decided to develop the blog with Wordpress over Drupal as it offered a pre-configured blogging platform with an easy to understand admin interface. I found theming the site remarkably easy (if not quite as flexible as Drupal’s theming system).

Booth Ventures Limited

• Project added 9 February 2008

Another instance where my superiors decided to let me have a go at designing a site. When I started at Access Digital they had already made a commercial decision to build their sites with Drupal and the site for Booth Ventures is no exception. Booth are in the landfill and quarrying trade, but you wouldn’t know it from this screenshot. Work in progress. The Booth Ventures website went live in April 2008

• Project added 9 February 2008

One of the first website projects I got involved with when I started at Access Digital. The website for Hydratight, a global engineering firm, represents a large part of the re-branding project Access is leading. We decided to build their website using the Drupal open-source content management system. When the English language site is finished we’ll be getting it translated into loads of other languages. It’s a big and complex job this one. The Hydratight UK website went live on the 1st May 2008
