Screen Captures - Vol 1
Given I use my PC to watch and record most of the Telly I see it’s always very easy to capture a screenshot of the action that takes my interest. But until now I’ve never really had much of an outlet for my digital equivalent to stamp collecting. Please allow me to bore you rigid with pics from the telly. Are you sitting comfortably? Then let me begin…
Top Gear (28/1/2007) BBC 2
Guess what?! Hammond is back!!
Clarkson and Captain Slow put on a big show for Richard’s return
It’s good to see the three back together. Here you see James offering Richard a tissue incase he dribbles - but apparently he’s not a mental so it’s all ok
Obviously Top Gear wouldn’t have been able to compete against the Celebrity Big Brother final if they hadn’t promised to show the crash that made Hammond famous - a point to which Clarkson made comments.
Richard: “The jet car skidded across the ground upside-down at 230mph until the roll bar and my head stuck in the ground and stopped it quite suddenly”
Jade Goody Eviction in Celebrity Big Brother (19/1/2007, ~21:25) Channel 4
I don’t want to speak about the whole argument concerning Jade and her conduct… In her credit Jade had worked out that she was in the shit - just by the way BB was talking to her about her language and by putting 2 and 2 together. She apparently felt very upset about the prospects of her reception in the outside world but decided to be strong and face the music as she ‘hadn’t meant nothing racial’. Here is the exact moment her fears were reallised as she was told she had been evicted from the Big Brother house.

P.S. What the fuck happened to Davina McCall? She looks like she’s been dragged through a hedge backwards by a lynch mob of Shilpa supporters:

Davina - that hair is awful!
4oD (Channel 4 On Demand) Advert Featuring TV Vending Machine
Channel 4 are running an advert for a new digital TV service at the minute. 4oD (or 4 On Demand) is simply a ‘Listen Again’ type feature for Channel 4’s website that allows you to download and watch Channel 4 TV programmes at your leisure. There are a number of reasons why I don’t agree with this service: - programmes cost from 99p to download - there is a time limit on how long you can keep the show (unless you pay more in the first place) - the service is only available to Windows XP PCs - it involves downloading and installing software to see the programmes - I wouldn’t use it because I use a PVR to keep all the decent programmes on my PC - etc …

However, the concept may be flawed and ridiculous but the TV advert is inspired! I’ve seen it a handful of times but my gosh I enjoy it. If only they had put as much effort into finding a work around for Apple Macs as they did on the advert they might of had a good product.
Skins Trail on E4
If you’re (un)lucky enough to have had access to the Friends-Re-Run-Emporium - or as it’s otherwise known: E4 - recently you will have noticed the increasingly frequent trails for the new flagship programme - Skins. The advert reliably informs us that Skins is made by the same people that brought us Shameless - therefore I’m hoping for more of the grittiness and comedy that came with the early series featuring the Gallagher family.
I would like to draw your attention to the following freeze-frame of the Skins trail as been shown on E4 and Channel 4 in the run-up to the programme’s launch on Thursday.

Skins starts on E4 on Thursday (25th Jan) at 10pm
Is that not the most peculiar bed spread of all time? I would like to think there weren’t many bed sheet designers that would go further than using frontal female nudity in their designs; If not just for the protection of our children.
Shameless (Season 3, Episode 2, 9th Jan 07) E4
The McGuire family go to ‘HMP Bolton’ to collect their son who has just been released from jail after 10 years. However, the son has by-passed the family and already left on his own. He first shows up in the episode spying on the Jockey waitress as she gets a quicky against the wall from the drayman (beer delivery dude) [see image in the margin below].

Why interesting? The building used for the prison is actually the one of the buildings at the TA in Bury known as the Armory. The Amory is just behind The Peel pub where my Bury mates and me do most of our drinking. This place was also used to run a computer fair each month that I attended on occassion. The TA complex sits on the site of the original Bury Castle built in 1469.
